CDL Bus Driver (Part-time) Passaic County Community College - 3.8 Paterson, NJ Job Details Part-time $22 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Free parking Commuter assistance Disability insurance Employee assistance program Life insurance Qualifications Customer communication Passenger Endorsement High school diploma or GED Defensive driving Full Job Description Passaic County Community College (PCCC) seeks a reliable and safety-focused part-time bus driver to support transportation needs across its Paterson, Wanaque, and Passaic campuses, as well as off-site academic, athletic, and community events. The bus driver plays a vital role in enhancing student access and supporting the College's commitment to service excellence and community engagement. Key Responsibilities Safely operate College-owned buses and shuttle vehicles to transport students, faculty, staff, and guests. Drive between PCCC campuses and approved off-site locations in accordance with scheduled routes and special assignments. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness. Comply with all New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJ MVC) regulations, federal DOT requirements, and College policies. Provide courteous and professional customer service to the campus community. Assist passengers with disabilities in compliance with ADA guidelines. Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, and incident reports. Immediately report accidents, safety concerns, or maintenance issues. Ensure the interior and exterior cleanliness of assigned vehicles. Follow all emergency and safety protocols, including evacuation procedures. Minimum Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher, with Passenger (P) endorsement. Clean driving record meeting College insurance requirements. High school diploma or GED. Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination. Working knowledge of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience driving buses or shuttle vehicles in an educational, municipal, or public service setting Familiarity with Passaic County and Northern New Jersey roadways Experience working with diverse populations in a community-focused environment Skills and Competencies Strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and reliability Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Customer-service orientation aligned with PCCC's mission Ability to remain calm and act appropriately in emergencies Dependable, professional demeanor Schedule Part-time schedule (up to 29 hours per week) Flexible hours based on academic schedules and College needs May include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation:
Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay rate for this position is $22.

New Jersey Sick Leave :
Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year. (Eligible to use after successful completion of probationary period.)
