ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Advises passengers of appropriate behavior for the purpose of reinforcing established guidelines and maintaining passenger safety. 2. Assists passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from bus during normal transport and emergency situations. 3. Loads and unloads passengers in wheelchairs/scooters on and off bus, permitting only properly functioning equipment to load 4. Operates ramp, assuring seatbelts are fastened, positioning the wheelchairs/scooters in bus, and securing. 5. Drives bus for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes in a safe and timely manner. 6. Monitors passengers during transit for the purpose of ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers. 7. Notifies appropriate individuals of any delays in scheduled route. 8. Conducts established safety and operational inspection of vehicle daily. 9. Cleans vehicle, both interior and exterior, for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance and sanitation of vehicle. 10. Assures maintenance of bus in safe and clean operating condition; reporting needed mechanical repairs; notes gas and oil levels and informs Lead Bus Driver Maintenance Manager of issues 11. Prepares reports conveying information and/or complying with established guidelines. 12. Call 911 if a tenant becomes ill while riding the bus 13. Reports any vehicle accident immediately to the ED 14. Complete any forms or incident reports following any incident, illness, accident, etc. and submit within 24 hours 15. Carries out other tasks as assigned by supervisor.WORKING BEHAVIORS 1.
Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures. 2. Report on the job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs. 3. Maintain current required licenses and certificates. 4. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworker, residents, families and visitors. 5. Ability to remain calm in an emergency situation. 6. Display tact and courtesy. 7. Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel. 8. Promote Westfield Senior Citizens Housing Corporation in a positive way. 9. Promote teamwork in providing services to residents 10. No eating or drinking while operating vehicle 11. Use of any electronic device while operating vehicle is prohibited 12. No smoking in the building or while operating any and all equipmentKNOWLEDGE EXPECTATIONS 1. NJ
State Motor Vehicle Laws 2. Ability to recognize mechanical safety hazards in bus 3. CPR/AED certification 4. Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the required duties. 5. Ability to operate electrical/manual lifts on buses 6. Knowledge of proper safety requirements of wheelchairs and scooters.WORKING CONDITIONS 1.
Heated/Air-conditioned bus. 2. Outdoor responsibilities in winter and summer 3. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending. 4. Generally 80% sitting, 10% walking and 10% standing. 5. Bus hours are between 9:00 and 5:00, 7 days, plus Friday evening; additional evening work for special events, QUALIFICATIONS 1. CDL license and experience driving a bus. 2. Understanding of pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws. 3. Clean driving record. 4. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. 5. Enjoyment in working with older adults.STANDARDS 1.
