Responsibilities Safely operate coach buses, motor coaches, school buses, and paratransit vehicles on designated routes across city streets and highways. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure mechanical integrity and compliance with safety standards. Follow traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and state transportation rules to guarantee passenger safety at all times. Use two-way radios for effective communication with dispatchers, fellow drivers, and maintenance teams during routes. Assist passengers with boarding, including those with special needs or requiring extra support, ensuring a comfortable experience. Navigate city streets efficiently while managing traffic conditions and adverse weather situations to maintain punctuality. Maintain detailed logs of trips, vehicle inspections, safety checks, and incident reports as required by transportation safety regulations. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge of bus systems, air brakes, and vehicle maintenance procedures. Proven experience driving motor coaches, school buses, or similar commercial vehicles; delivery or van driver experience is a plus. Excellent defensive driving skills with a solid understanding of traffic laws and city street navigation. Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and adherence to all safety protocols for passenger transport. Ability to operate two-way radios effectively for driver communication during routes. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to assist passengers professionally and courteously. Capable of driving in adverse weather conditions while maintaining safety standards. Effective communication skills in English to interact with passengers and team members clearly.
