Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and responsible Bus Driver to join our Dial-A-Ride team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers and community members, along designated routes while ensuring their safety and comfort. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help create a positive travel experience for all riders. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by providing reliable and courteous transportation services. Responsibilities Safely operate a Dial-A-Bus, adhering to all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition before each route. Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including providing wheelchair assistance and supporting individuals with mobility challenges. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective communication skills and multilingual abilities if applicable. Manage passenger behavior and enforce safety policies to ensure a secure environment onboard. Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments to maintain schedule integrity and passenger safety. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of vehicle codes and commercial driving laws. Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, traffic laws, emergency response procedures, and child or senior care protocols. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment safely. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Strong understanding of student discipline, behavior management, and childcare practices when working with children or vulnerable populations. Demonstrated defensive driving skills and quick response capabilities to traffic changes or emergencies. Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements; familiarity with school policy knowledge is preferred.
