Position Title Bus Driver Required Application Type School Related Personnel Salary/Pay Scale $45,827 Job Description Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Bus Driver within the District's Transportation Department. The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and school-related activities while maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive environment. Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, the successful candidate will operate a school bus in accordance with New York State laws, District policies, and established safety procedures.
Positions Available:
4 anticipated Responsibilities Safely operate a school bus over assigned routes in accordance with New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law and District policies. Transport students to and from school, school-related activities, and other approved destinations. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to ensure the proper operation of lights, brakes, steering, tires, warning systems, emergency equipment, and other vehicle components. Report maintenance concerns, mechanical issues, accidents, and safety hazards promptly. Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for student passengers. Follow established routes and schedules while exercising sound judgment during changing traffic and weather conditions. Maintain accurate transportation records and complete required reports. Communicate professionally with students, parents, school staff, and members of the public. Operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently while complying with all District, State, and Federal transportation regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned. Civil Service Title Bus Driver Job Qualifications A valid New York State Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B or higher, with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. Air Brake endorsement Ability to pass all required pre-employment and ongoing physical examinations, drug and alcohol testing, and background checks.
