Job Description

Job Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic and rewarding role, you will operate school buses and transit vehicles, transporting students and passengers safely to and from school, extracurricular activities, and community events. Your dedication will help foster a positive environment for children and community members while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws. Duties Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Ensure passenger safety by following child behavior management policies, assisting with wheelchair and mobility device assistance, and maintaining secure boarding and disembarking procedures. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify operational safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency equipment. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies using emergency response procedures for transportation, including emergency stop procedures and accident protocols. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with students, parents, staff, and community members; addressing inquiries politely; and promoting positive behavior onboard. Assist with loading and unloading children with special needs or mobility challenges while ensuring compliance with disability accommodation standards. Maintain accurate records of routes traveled, student attendance, incident reports, vehicle maintenance logs, and safety checks. Experience Proven experience operating school buses or commercial vehicles such as transit or heavy-duty vehicles; prior experience working with children is highly preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws applicable to school bus operation. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; training in emergency response procedures for transportation is a plus. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are advantageous for diverse communities. Ability to handle heavy lifting when assisting students or loading equipment safely. Experience in behavior management or childcare enhances your ability to create a safe environment onboard. Demonstrated skill in quick response to traffic changes and emergency situations ensures passenger safety at all times. Pay:
$21.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
