MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Transportation Department Full-time / 12 Month 8.0 hrs/day - 5 days/week (Monday through Friday) 8:30 am thru 5:00 pm ASAP There is no civil service examination required for this position for the duration of the
NY HELPS
Program. Candidates must meet the minimum civil service qualifications for a
NY HELPS
appointment as follows: A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, including, or supplemented by, courses in typing and two (2) years of office clerical experience: or: B) Six (6) years of office clerical experience including typing; or: C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (C).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1.Eligibility for a New York State Commercial Driver's License, Class- B" P/S" endorsements at the time of application; possession of a valid Class-B"P/S" license at the time of appointment. 2.Qualified and certified as a New York State school bus driver and have all the necessary requirements of the applicable New York State motor vehicle laws and State Department of Education requirements at the time of appointment. 3.
Minimum age requirement:
21 years of age, per New York State EducationDepartment regulations.
Typical Work Activities:
Receives telephone calls regarding bus driver absenteeism, informs supervisor and contacts substitute drivers; Acts us receptionist answering telephone, directing callers, taking messages and providing information of a routine nature; Types forms, form letters, memoranda, reports and other materials related to the transportation department operations; Maintains time cards, payroll records and driver attendance reports; Assembles a variety of data for incorporation into various transportation department reports; Composes and types routine correspondence; Maintains orders related to mechanical report forms; Processes purchase orders and maintains accounts receivable and accounts payable orders: Maintains communication with bus drivers by use of the District's two-way radio system; Operates an alpha-numeric keyboard to transcribe data directly to a computer; Utilizes computer systems and equipment in the completion of assigned clerical tasks; Drives a school bus transporting students when necessary.
