This position helps ensure students arrive safely to and from school and school-related activities while supporting the educational mission of Bowling Green City Schools. Essential Responsibilities Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes and trips. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain appropriate student behavior and promote a safe environment. Follow all Ohio school transportation laws, regulations, and district procedures. Maintain accurate transportation records and reports. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and transportation personnel. Report accidents, incidents, vehicle concerns, and safety issues promptly. Attend required meetings and training. Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must: Possess a high school diploma or GED. Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements. Meet Ohio Department of Education and Workforce school bus driver certification requirements. Maintain an acceptable driving record. Successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including physical examination, drug testing, and criminal background checks (BCI/FBI), as required by law. Meet applicable health requirements for Ohio school bus drivers. Demonstrate the ability to safely transport students while providing excellent customer service. Be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, families, and staff. Preferred Qualities We are looking for candidates who: Put student safety first. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This position requires the ability to safely operate a school bus and perform the essential functions of the job, including assisting students when necessary, completing vehicle inspections, and working in varying weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to noise, traffic, seasonal temperatures, and occasional interactions with disruptive individuals.
