Job Description

Overview Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System (VMCPCSS), which includes Cathedral Preparatory School and Mother Teresa Academy, may be hiring a full or part-time Bus Driver for the 26-27 school year. This position could also be hired as casual or as needed basis. This position is responsible for providing safe transportation, professional operation of the vehicle, and management of the occupants of the school bus for regular morning and/or afternoon rides. In addition, generally after 2 p.m. for athletic practices, games, and other student activities. Additional hours may be available for occasional out-of-town trips. Qualified drivers must have a valid PA driver's license and Commercial Driver's License with school bus endorsement. Experience is preferred. The successful candidate must be able to provide a driver's history record, employment background check, and obtain the necessary criminal and child abuse clearances.
Duties :
Safely operate buses on scheduled route, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations Design, follow, and carry out daily route sheets in a safe and timely manner. Carry out required daily pre-service bus inspections and submit documentation of results. Ensure the bus is clean of any refuse left by the students or passengers. Communicates effectively and respectfully with riders, coworkers, supervision, and parents. Identify and communicate major and minor mechanical issues in a timely way that can affect riders' safe transport. Maintain and submit time /trip logs at end of each run. Manage behavior and ensure passenger safety Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver's license appropriate for operating school vehicles Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus Knowledge of driving safety protocols, mechanical basics of vehicle maintenance, and route navigation Experience working with school-age children, Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and effectively Ability to manage behavior and maintain a safe environment onboard the vehicle Mechanical knowledge to identify potential vehicle issues before they impact safety or service quality Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
