Overview Join our dynamic team as a Private School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic role, you will operate school buses with precision and care, providing a positive and secure experience for young learners. Your dedication will help foster a nurturing environment while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' daily lives while showcasing your driving expertise and commitment to safety. Duties Safely operate school buses, including paratransit and wheelchair-accessible vehicles, along designated routes to transport students to and from school and extracurricular activities Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to ensure passenger safety at all times Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including providing wheelchair assistance when needed, while practicing excellent customer service and behavior management Respond quickly to traffic changes, emergency stop procedures, and unexpected road conditions to maintain schedule integrity Conduct pre-trip inspections, vehicle checks, and routine maintenance reports to ensure bus readiness and safety compliance Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students using clear language; address student discipline issues professionally and compassionately Implement emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including first aid or CPR if necessary, while maintaining calmness under pressure Experience Proven experience driving school buses or transit buses in compliance with state and local commercial driving laws Knowledge of child behavior management techniques and experience working with children in a transportation setting Valid commercial driver's license with F-endorsements for school bus operation; clean driving record required Familiarity with transportation safety regulations, vehicle codes, emergency response procedures, and traffic laws Prior experience assisting passengers with disabilities or mobility challenges preferred Good communication skills in English Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for loading/unloading equipment or assisting students with mobility needs Responsible for taking van for regular maintenance.
