Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Daycare Bus Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of children to and from daycare facilities. Duties Safely operate school or transit buses, including paratransit vehicles and wheelchair-accessible buses, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Ensure the safety of children by following proper student discipline and behavior management procedures during transit. Assist passengers with mobility challenges by providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring secure placement of mobility devices. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking vehicle codes, emergency stop procedures, and vehicle safety features. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies, implementing emergency response procedures for transportation when necessary. Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and staff to provide updates on bus schedules or delays. Maintain accurate logs of routes, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance reports in accordance with company policies. Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit bus operation. Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at state and local levels. First aid certification and CPR training to respond effectively to emergencies involving children or passengers. Experience working with children or in senior care is a plus; ability to manage student behavior positively is essential. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are an advantage for diverse communities. Ability to lift heavy objects safely as needed for vehicle inspections or passenger assistance. Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, defensive driving techniques, and quick response strategies for traffic changes. Excellent customer service skills to foster a welcoming environment for passengers and their families.
