Job Overview Join our team as a School Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students. In this energetic role, you will operate school buses and paratransit vehicles with precision and care, providing a positive experience for young passengers while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Duties Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles, including wheelchair-accessible buses and vans, following designated routes and schedules. Ensure passenger safety by enforcing behavior management policies and assisting students with boarding, disembarking, and crossing streets. Provide assistance to students with special needs, including wheelchair assistance and support for senior or disabled passengers. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to verify safety features are functional and report any maintenance issues promptly. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures when necessary. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, school staff, and parents using radios or other communication devices to respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies. Adhere strictly to traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and school policies to ensure compliance at all times. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit vehicle operation. Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable at state and local levels. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for diverse communities. Experience working with children or in senior care environments is highly desirable. Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; training will be provided if necessary. Demonstrated defensive driving skills with the ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and emergency situations. Familiarity with student discipline policies and behavior management techniques. Pay:
$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
