POSITION SUMMARY
The Private Property School Bus / Passenger Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely transporting employees, guests, contractors, and other authorized passengers throughout designated private-property locations using company-owned passenger vehicles, trolleys, and school-bus-style vehicles. This position is not a school transportation position and does not transport students as part of a school transportation program. Safe Charters requires drivers in this position to maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. The primary responsibility is to provide safe, dependable, and professional passenger transportation while following company safety requirements and site-specific traffic and security procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Passenger Transportation & Vehicle Operation
  • Safely operate assigned school-bus-style passenger vehicles and other authorized company vehicles on designated private-property routes.
  • Transport employees, guests, contractors, and other authorized passengers between designated pickup and drop-off locations.
  • Follow designated routes, schedules, speed limits, traffic-control devices, parking requirements, and site-specific driving procedures.
  • Maintain safe control of the vehicle and monitor passenger safety during loading, transportation, and unloading.
  • Maintain professional and courteous communication with passengers, supervisors, dispatch personnel, security personnel, and customer representatives. Vehicle Inspections & Safety
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report defects, damage, maintenance needs, or other safety concerns.
  • Ensure aisles, entrances, exits, and emergency equipment remain unobstructed and the vehicle is safe for passenger service.
  • Verify the vehicle is clear of passengers and personal belongings at the completion of each route or shift.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, passenger injuries, property damage, unsafe conditions, or vehicle concerns according to company procedures.
  • Never operate a vehicle while impaired, distracted, or fatigued to the point that safe operation may be affected. Documentation & Company Responsibilities
  • Complete required vehicle inspection reports, trip documentation, mileage records, incident reports, and other assigned paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Participate in required safety meetings, driver training, and company training programs.
  • Follow company drug and alcohol, distracted-driving, seat-belt, mobile-device, and other applicable safety policies.
  • Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Possess and maintain both the Passenger (P) endorsement and School Bus (S) endorsement. Property
  • Maintain a valid DOT medical qualification/certification as required for assigned driving duties.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record under company standards.
  • Successfully complete all company-required driver qualification, MVR, drug and alcohol testing, background screening, and other applicable onboarding requirements.
  • Maintain all required licenses, endorsements, certifications, and qualifications throughout employment.
  • Ability to safely operate large passenger vehicles and maneuver around pedestrians, parked vehicles, equipment, loading areas, narrow roadways, and other site traffic.
  • Ability to complete required vehicle inspections and identify and report vehicle safety defects.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, routes, safety procedures, and site requirements.
  • Previous school bus, shuttle bus, motorcoach, commercial passenger transportation, or similar professional driving experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee must be able to safely enter and exit assigned vehicles; sit and operate a vehicle for extended periods; use hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate vehicle controls; turn the head and upper body to observe surrounding traffic and passengers; and perform required vehicle inspections. The position may require walking, standing, bending, reaching, climbing vehicle steps, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals as required by applicable law. Work is primarily performed in and around passenger vehicles operating on private property. Drivers may work around pedestrians, commercial vehicles, equipment, loading and parking areas, and in conditions of noise, dust, heat, cold, and changing weather. Schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, split shifts, overtime, or varying hours based on operational needs.
AT-WILL EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Safe Charters is at will. This means that either the employee or Safe Charters may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or advance notice, subject to applicable law. Nothing in this job description creates a contract of employment or alters the at-will employment relationship. The duties, responsibilities, and requirements of this position may be modified by the company as business needs change.
Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
