School Bus Driver - Lead Full Time Summit Academy - 3.8 Draper, UT Job Details Full-time $18.50 - $24.62 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications CDL B Safe work practices Computer operation Passenger Endorsement Computer literacy Safety regulations Basic math CDL A School Bus Endorsement DOT Physical Certification Vehicle codes Computer skills Full Job Description Summit Academy Schools Job Description - Lead Bus Driver 40 Hours/Week (Salaried, Benefited) Purpose Statement The responsibilities of the Lead Bus Driver are to provide transportation for students in a safe and responsible manner, maintain the buses, and ensure that the buses are clean and ready for use. The Lead Bus Driver works with students, staff, and the Director of Transportation to ensure that the busing needs of Summit Academy are being met. This job reports to the Director of Transportation Essential Functions Safely drive the school bus for all assigned trips. Safely operates other vehicles, non-CMV, as assigned. Inspect vehicle prior to and following use, including completing the required reports and forms. Understand and apply the rules relating to safe bus operation. Analyze driving conditions; identify safety hazards; and report these observations to the Director of Transportation. Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations. Maintain an accurate accounting of their hours of service, based on current FMCSA regulations. Perform routine washing, cleaning, and detailing on all LEA buses and other vehicles. Routinely check the operability and safety of all LEA buses and other vehicles. Routinely checks the fluid levels on the buses and other vehicles and corrects, as needed. Performing minor repairs, as needed, on LEA buses and other vehicles. Coordinating with the Director of Transportation to arrange any repairs that need additional attention. Completes all mandated and assigned training from the LEA or the Director of Transportation. Director of Transportation Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications SKILLS Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Holding a current Class A or B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements. Maintaining a current DOT Medical Card. Ability to meet FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Protocols. Safe school bus operation, including the ability to safely drive in both urban and rural areas, at various times of day, and in various weather conditions.
KNOWLEDGE
The individual must have a knowledge of the following: Basic math and reading skills. Basic computer and phone skills. Basic understanding of diesel engines and all other components of a school bus. Understanding of all other federal and state requirements to legally operate a school bus. ABILITY The individual must be able to perform all physical actions needed in the safe operation of a school bus. More specific requirements include the ability to meet the minimum standards of the Physical Assessment Standards for Utah School Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants, which include: Climbing and descending bus stairs three times within 30 seconds. Moving the right foot between throttle and brake five times in 10 seconds. Opening and closing the bus door, activate the four-way hazard lights, and activate the right/left turn signals with 15 seconds. Kneeling for 10 seconds and looking under the bus and returning to a standing position twice withing 60 seconds. Lifting and moving 50 pounds 35 feet within 20 seconds. Dragging a 125-pound object for 50 feet within 30 seconds.
RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include: Working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods. Working with a non-traditional, varying schedule, including assignments at all hours of the day and on weekends. Being on time for scheduled appointments and assigned routes. Taking pride in the safe and clean operation of Summit Academy buses and other vehicles. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job requires long periods of sitting, walking, and/or standing. This job is performed most of the time in outdoors settings which may include extreme temperatures or weather.
