Job Description

Job Summary State Street United Methodist Church (UMC) located in Bristol, VA is seeking a licensed school bus driver willing to drive Sunday mornings (8:00am-12:30pm) to pick-up church attendees for two of our services. There would be additional opportunities to drive Tuesday and Thursday evenings for church programs. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. Duties Safely operate various types of buses, including school buses, paratransit vehicles, and vans; following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Transport passengers efficiently along designated routes while maintaining punctuality and reliability. Assist passengers with disabilities or mobility challenges by providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring their safety during boarding and disembarking. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation, including emergency stop procedures and handling unexpected incidents calmly and effectively. Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments, demonstrating defensive driving skills and quick decision-making. Support passenger safety by adhering to child care policies when transporting students or children; provide courteous customer service at all times. Qualifications Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or commercial driving with a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local commercial driving laws, and transportation safety regulations. Ability to follow detailed routes accurately while responding swiftly to traffic changes or route modifications. $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
