Nonexempt Summary:
To safely transport special needs and general education students, efficiently and economically to and from school on a daily basis
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Drives safely with students as the first priority 2. Obeys all traffic laws 3. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses/van 4. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus/van 5. Reports disciplinary problems to administrators 6. Maintains cleanliness on the bus/van at all times 7. Adheres to assigned schedule and route 8. Checks bus/van before each operation for mechanical defects 9. Conducts emergency evacuation drills in keeping with division regulations 10. Notifies the personnel at the bus garage of mechanical failure 11. Demonstrates knowledge of rules and regulations, promulgated by local, state, and federal authorities 12. Transports and discharges authorized students at designated stops 13. Transports handicapped students to and from vehicle in accordance with arrangements made with the Director of Exceptional Programs , Director of Support Services and/or the Supervisor of Transportation 14. Reports accidents and completes required reports
QUALIFICATIONS

Holds a valid license to drive a school bus or van 2. Has such additional requirements as the School Board may require

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten-month employment and/or Daily Sub Rate.
Salary Range:
$18,303 to $28,370 - Substitute Bus Drivers $75/day
EVALUATION
Performance of the position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Prince Edward County School Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
