Starting Salary:
$1,721.56 (per month) plus benefits;Salary Grade:
C1-35Full Salary Range:
$1,721.56 - $2,276.88 (per month)NOTE:
The salary advertised with this position is based on the 2017-2018 salary schedule. Effective July 1,2018 through June 30, 2019, the position will receive an additional temporary 5% increase. On July 1, 2019 salaries will revert to the 2017-2018 salary schedule unless another agreement is reached. DEFINITION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail; perform various clerical duties as necessary.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:- Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail; sign for certified and registered mail as needed; receive and distribute large packages; maintain mailboxes for full- and part-time faculty.
- Batch, sort and stamp outgoing mail; assure outgoing mail is charged to the correct account; maintain balances in postage accounts including metered, bulk and postage by phone; replenish accounts as needed.
- Distribute newspapers, journals, magazines or other materials to appropriate faculty; receive and distribute faxes to staff, faculty and managers; answer telephones as needed.
- Order supplies as necessary; monitor and maintain office equipment; request service for office equipment as needed.
- Operate a variety of office equipment including a postage meter, postage scale, copier, fax machine and others as assigned.
- Maintain various records including mail charge backs, bulk mailing, postage by phone and others.
- Remain current with changes in postal regulations and charges.
- Assist with the distribution of paychecks; collect money from staff and faculty for personal postage and faxes.
- Provide work direction to student employees as needed; interview and screen student employees.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities:
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard and postal equipment.
- Seeing to read various materials.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
- Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling heavy objects up to 60 lbs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Any combination equivalent to a High school diploma AND one (1) year mailroom experience.
