0 Sacramento, CA Job Details Part-time $24 an hour 15 hours ago Qualifications Relationship building (classroom management strategies) Client rapport building Working with youth Full Job Description The Division of Student Affairs on the Sacramento State campus is seeking to hire one Student Assistant to support Project Rebound's Restorative Justice Juvenile Diversion Program (RJJDP). The Student Assistant will serve as a Credible Messenger Mentor (CMM), providi ng individualized, co mmunity-based mentoring and support to youth participating in the Program. The CMM will serve as a consistent, trusted presence who works alongside youth as they navigate the restorative justice process and address the circumstances, relationships, and goals that will support their successful participation in diversion and continued success in the community. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Compensation $24.00 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Must possess direct, shared lived experience with the criminal justice system or marginalized community struggles, paired with demonstrated personal transformation and community trust. Must be 18 years of age or older. Demonstrated ability to establish positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with adolescents and young adults. Strong interpersonal, communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently in community settings while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when working with youth and families. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Reliability, professionalism, cultural humility, and demonstrated commitment to supporting youth development. Preferred Qualifications Experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, counseling, supporting, or otherwise working directly with youth or young adults. Experience working with youth involved in the juvenile justice system or other systems of care. Experience with restorative justice, diversion, reentry, youth development, conflict resolution, or related approaches. Knowledge of or experience connecting young people to Sacramento-area educational, employment, recreational, and community resources. Lived or professional experience that contributes to the ability to establish authentic and credible relationships with system-involved youth. Experience working effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds and communities. Duties and Responsibilities Establish and maintain consistent, supportive 1:1 mentoring relationships with participating youth Meet regularly with youth in community settings and other appropriate locations to provide individualized and ongoing encouragement, accountability, and problem-solving support between formal program activities over the course of program enrollment (6-12 months). Serve as a trusted and credible adult role model who supports youth in identifying strengths, goals, and opportunities for positive development. Build rapport and maintain authentic, respectful relationships with youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Support youth throughout their participation in the restorative justice process, including helping youth understand expectations, prepare for restorative justice activities, and reflect on their experiences. Help youth identify and articulate the impact of their actions, take responsibility, and develop meaningful strategies for moving forward. Support youth in developing and completing individualized restoration plans and other diversion-related goals. Connect youth with appropriate educational, employment, recreational, mentoring, behavioral health, and other community resources when appropriate. Accompany or support youth in navigating community resources and opportunities as appropriate to the program. Maintain regular communication with the program director and program team within Project Rebound regarding youth engagement, participation, progress, and barriers. Participate in case staffing, team meetings, and training as required. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of mentoring contacts and program-related activities. Follow all Sacramento State, program, and partner-agency policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, youth safety and professional conduct (

the CMM is a mandated reporter) Perform other related duties as assigned.
