HOURLY General Summary:
The Supply Chain Transportation Technician is responsible for delivery services necessary for the health system. The primary function includes picking up and delivering needed items between and within physical campuses, using a variety of vehicles, including vans, box trucks, cars, and carts. Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for picking up, transporting, and delivering specimens, mail, supplies, and equipment as needed. Transports may contain biohazard items, tissue, high-value items, confidential items, or Personal Protected Information (PHI). 2. Handle all specimens and lab samples in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that specimens are stored in the proper cooler with correct identification. 3. Document deliveries in accordance with current standard operating procedures. Handheld scanners are used to maintain and record the chain of custody for all deliveries. Record temperature and humidity inside the vehicle. Must comply with all relevant safety regulations, especially when transporting frozen or perishable items. 4. Abides by all traffic laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Follows appropriate protocol and procedures for accident/incident occurrences. Safely operates all Supply Chain delivery vehicles up to 26,000 GVWR. 5. Monitors the operating condition of the assigned vehicle and adheres to its routine maintenance schedule, including maintaining adequate fuel and oil levels. Assists with moving vehicles to and from the maintenance facility as required. Ensures the vehicle is clean of personal trash prior to and at the end of each shift. 6. Responds to urgent dispatch requests based on business and customer needs. 7. Interacts with customers in a professional manner providing excellent customer service. Relays any customer service problems to the attention of the Supervisor/Manager. 8. Required to handle and distribute non-controlled medication solutions and required to work in areas where patient-specific medications are stored. Supply Chain staff are expected and authorized to transport locked and secured medications. 9. As needed, may be responsible for the receipt, inspection, and recording of deliveries. Unloading inbound shipments and staging per protocol, validating shipping quantity at the item level, and escalating identified issues working with the Procurement team to solve discrepancies. Placing items for storage in the Warehouse, plus distribution and delivery of resources, supplies, and equipment. Preparing packages for shipping, labeling them and loading them onto trucks. Using FedEx Ship Manager to send out parcels to Vendors or other entities. 10. As needed, may be required to pick orders and prepare for shipment per pick ticket, utilizing picking software to build orders at or above department standard productivity ensuring accuracy of the shipment and associated shipping documents. Staff are held accountable for the accuracy of orders. Accurately label boxes to identify and dispose of leftover packing materials, such as pallets and cardboard. Scan all items to avoid errors. Build pallets with orders and position them in the correct loading dock. 11. Communicate with customers and staff, answering phone calls and emails. Interacting with customers and handling questions or complaints. 12. Maintain assigned work area in a cleaned and organized fashion by removing cardboard from shelves and sweeping the aisle. Every member has an assigned aisle that must be kept clean and always organized. 13. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities. Education:
High School Diploma or GED Credential(s): Driver License ; A driving record will be required.- Per Bayhealth requirements for operating a vehicle, all staff must be at least 21 years of age, with a current class D driver's license and no more than 7 points in a 24-month period and 2 red light violations in a 12-month period.
