Job Overview Join our dynamic team as an Independent Medical Courier Contractor, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the timely and secure transportation of medical specimens, equipment, and supplies. This position offers flexibility and independence, allowing you to operate your own vehicle while providing essential services to healthcare providers and laboratories. Your dedication to safe driving, manual handling, and excellent customer service will help maintain the integrity of sensitive medical materials and support patient care. This role will be responsible for daily routes lasting 30-60 minutes at about $25 per route, plus the opportunity to make additional emergency runs for up to $50 per route. Duties Safely operate your personal or commercial vehicle, including box trucks or vans, to deliver medical items across designated routes. Load and unload shipments using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks when necessary. Adhere strictly to traffic regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) guidelines, and safety protocols during all driving activities. Ensure accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and route logs using mobile devices or digital tracking systems. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating professionally with healthcare staff and facility personnel during deliveries. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine inspections, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure reliable operation. Follow safe lifting practices for heavy (up to 40lbs) or bulky items, utilizing manual transmission skills if applicable, to prevent injuries. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks, cargo vans, or similar commercial vehicles preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, weight handling in the workplace, and safe lifting practices. Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks when required for loading or unloading. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage route schedules efficiently using mobile devices or GPS systems. Excellent customer service skills with clear communication and professionalism at all times. Physical ability to lift heavy items safely and perform manual tasks involved in loading/unloading shipments.
