The Opportunity:
Why Kendall County? Kendall County is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and service-oriented individual to join our Facilities Management Department as a Part-Time Courier. This is more than a traditional delivery position. The Part-Time Courier plays an important role in keeping County operations running smoothly by safely and securely transporting mail, confidential documents, supplies, equipment, and other materials between County departments, elected offices, vendors, government agencies, and other designated locations. The successful candidate will be dependable, organized, comfortable working independently, and willing to assist with a variety of facilities-support responsibilities. If you enjoy staying active, helping others, and performing work that supports public service throughout the County, we encourage you to apply. What You Will Accomplish Collect, sort, transport, and deliver interoffice mail, packages, confidential documents, office supplies, janitorial supplies, tools, equipment, and other materials. Complete scheduled delivery routes and respond to additional delivery requests accurately and on time. Pick up and deliver records, supplies, materials, and equipment from vendors, government agencies, post offices, and other locations. Safely operate County-owned vehicles while following all traffic laws and County vehicle policies. Load, unload, secure, and transport boxes, office equipment, furniture, and other materials using safe lifting practices. Maintain delivery logs, work orders, and other required documentation. Assist with inventorying and replenishing commonly used office and janitorial supplies. Support office moves, workstation relocations, and room setups for meetings, training sessions, and County events. Provide general facilities assistance, including transporting materials, running errands, collecting refuse and recycling, performing light cleaning, and maintaining orderly storage and work areas. Inspect assigned County vehicles, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns. Assist with seasonal activities, including snow and ice removal from sidewalks and entrances, as assigned. Protect the confidentiality of legal documents, financial information, personnel-related materials, and other sensitive records. Build positive and professional working relationships with County employees, elected officials, vendors, contractors, and members of the public. Minimum Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Current and valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the County's insurance carrier. Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and any other required pre-employment screening. Ability to obtain the required security clearance to enter secure County facilities, including the Kendall County Public Safety Center. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, delivery schedules, maps, policies, procedures, and work orders. Ability to work independently, organize assignments, manage changing priorities, and complete tasks accurately and on time. Ability to communicate professionally and provide courteous service to County employees, elected officials, vendors, contractors, and the public. Basic computer and mobile-device skills, including the ability to use email, internet applications, and Microsoft Office programs. Preferred Experience At least one year of experience in courier services, delivery, shipping and receiving, facilities support, warehouse operations, mailroom services, or a related field. Physical and Work Requirements This is an active position performed both indoors and outdoors. The successful candidate must be able to: Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds. Move heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment. Sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday. Safely operate County vehicles and equipment used to complete assigned responsibilities. Work in changing weather conditions and environments that may include traffic, dust, fumes, odors, cleaning products, powered equipment, and moderate noise.
