Job Description
The Courier is responsible for the safe collection, transportation, delivery, and tracking of laboratory samples, supplies, materials, and documentation in support of laboratory and manufacturing operations. This role ensures all materials are handled in accordance with safety, quality, regulatory, and chain-of-custody requirements while maintaining accurate records and consistently meeting delivery timelines. Responsibilities + Collect, transport, and deliver laboratory samples, supplies, materials, and documentation between on-site locations and designated regional sites. + Move internal mail, medical samples, and both Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and non-GMP materials efficiently and safely. + Package and label sensitive medical goods and documents securely to prevent damage, loss, or contamination. + Track all shipments accurately, maintaining clear documentation and logs for materials handled. + Follow strict standard operating procedures (SOPs), OSHA guidelines, and chain-of-custody protocols at all times. + Verify chain-of-custody documentation for all relevant materials and ensure proper handoff and receipt. + Assist with general warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking, when not driving. + Load and unload supplies and materials safely, using proper lifting techniques and equipment as needed. + Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders to confirm delivery details, resolve issues, and provide status updates. + Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and work area, and report any safety concerns or equipment issues promptly. Essential Skills + Demonstrated ability to lift heavy boxes, push carts, and load or unload supplies safely. + Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately log shipments and verify chain-of-custody documentation. + Willingness and ability to work irregular hours, rotating shifts, or on-call schedules as required by supply chain operations. + Customer service skills to interact professionally with internal departments and staff. + Basic logistics skills, including familiarity with shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking processes. + Ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines, including OSHA requirements. + Reliable time management skills to meet delivery deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in logistics, courier services, warehouse operations, or a related field. + Familiarity with handling medical samples, laboratory materials, or GMP/non-GMP environments. + Comfort using basic tracking tools or documentation systems to record shipments and deliveries. + Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and support operational needs. Work Environment This is an onsite role within a laboratory and manufacturing support environment. The courier works across facilities and designated regional locations, frequently moving between office areas, warehouse spaces, and laboratory support zones. The position involves regular physical activity, including lifting, pushing carts, and loading or unloading supplies. Work hours may include irregular schedules, rotating shifts, or on-call periods to support continuous operations. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety, quality, regulatory, and chain-of-custody procedures, with routine use of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and OSHA guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Kalamazoo, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.90 - $21.90/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
