Job Overview The Medical Courier is responsible for the secure, timely pickup and delivery of medical specimens, supplies, and documentation, as well as the accurate accessioning, processing, and routing of incoming laboratory specimens. This position requires strict adherence to regulatory standards, exceptional attention to detail, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders. Duties-Courier

• Safely operate a approved personal vehicle to pick up and deliver biological specimens, medical supplies, and laboratory materials across assigned routes.
• Maintain compliance with all state and federal transportation regulations, including OSHA, and HIPAA requirements.
• Ensure all specimens are handled in accordance with chain-of-custody procedures and temperature-controlled transport standards.
• Verify specimen integrity at pickup, including appropriate packaging, labeling, and documentation.
• Maintain accurate route logs, delivery manifests, and electronic tracking records.
• Report any route delays, safety concerns, or incidents immediately to the supervisor. Duties-Laboratory Accessioning
• Receive, inspect, and accession incoming specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS) with 100% accuracy.
• Confirm that all orders, patient demographics, test requisitions, and specimen labeling meet compliance and laboratory standards.
• Prioritize specimens based on required turnaround times and test complexity.
• Resolve missing information, incomplete paperwork, and specimen discrepancies in coordination with providers, couriers, and internal teams.
• Prepare specimens for distribution to the appropriate laboratory departments following established protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment in accordance with CLIA, CAP, and internal quality standards. Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in healthcare or laboratory sciences preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record that meets all company, state, and federal compliance standards.
• Ability to pass a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, and drug screening.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail, especially with specimen labeling, documentation, and data entry.
• Proficient in basic computer applications and comfortable learning laboratory information systems.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs., and to stand, walk, or drive for extended periods.
• Professional demeanor and effective communication skills when interacting with clients, clinical staff, and laboratory personnel. Class E driver license required within 30 days of hire . 1-3 years of experience preferred. Compliance and Safety Requirements

Bloodborne Pathogens, DOT/IATA specimen transport, and company-specific compliance certifications.

• Adherence to all biosafety and infection-control procedures, including proper PPE use.

• Prior experience in medical courier services, logistics, or healthcare delivery, preferred
• Previous laboratory accessioning or phlebotomy experience in a CLIA-certified environment.
• Familiarity with specimen handling, cold-chain transport, and medical terminology.

Pay:

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
