New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico. Why does the job exist? Responsible for providing transportation services to NMRC patients/clients. Will comply with all safety passenger transporting procedures and provide positive interactive customer service. This position will include clerical tasks and may also assist with coverage of the main switchboard. How does it get done? Transport patients/clients effectively via wheelchair, bed, and/or stretcher when necessary. Handle medical records/medical equipment safely. Maintain positive and professional relationships with patients. Adhere to established standards to transport, perform first aide and CPR during emergency situations. Other general clerical duties, assisting with coverage of switchboard. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Who are the customers? Patients/clients at New Mexico Rehabilitation Center. Ideal Candidate Patients/clients at New Mexico Rehabilitation Center. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency. Employment Requirements This position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment requires successful completion of criminal background and is conditional pending results. Employment is subject to preemployment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must be able to obtain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Working Conditions Work is performed in a rehabilitation hospital setting. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some walking, sitting, standing, bending and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime. Some travel may be required.
