Transportation Shift/schedule:
Full Time (40 hrs/wk)GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of Manager of Transportation. The Courier's primary job function is to transport mail, materials, linen, and Pharmacy medications throughout all facilities of SOMC and other locations as designated including patient addresses. Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent
High School Exam Required Licensure:
- BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)
- BLS/AED training course within 90 days of hire required
Experience:
- Previous experience in driving delivery vehicles preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Collects postal mail from post office, delivers to both hospital campus mailrooms and sorts per department. 2. Transports linen, interoffice mail, medical records, x-ray films and reports and distributes within S.O.M.C. facilities. 3. Transports legal and confidential material forS.O.M.C. 4.
Transports small portable patient equipment and materials within the healthcare facilities ofS.O.M.C. 5.
Transports biological specimens and bio-hazardous materials to and from various locations forS.O.M.C. 6.
Delivers materials to financial institutions. 7. Delivers Pharmacy medications to SOMC locations and patient addresses. Collects co-pays as necessary. 8. Completes daily vehicle condition report and recommends or requests appropriate maintenance to be performed. 9. Prepares and maintains accurate transportation logs and other data as required. 10. Ensures courier request board is cleared nightly. If unable, courier will communicate to next morning as to why. 11. Ensures van is cleaned/cleared of all supplies, trash, and equipment, and ready for next use. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. Why SOMC?
