Job Description
Job Summary Join our team as a USPS Delivery Contractor - Primary & Backup/Relief, where you will play a vital role in ensuring timely and efficient delivery of mail and packages across designated routes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work independently, maintain excellent customer service, and contribute to the seamless operation of postal services. As a contractor, you will be responsible for delivering parcels using your personal or company-provided vehicle, adhering to all safety and traffic regulations while providing exceptional service to our community. Whether serving as the primary driver or stepping in as backup/relief, your dedication helps keep our postal network running smoothly and reliably. Responsibilities Safely operate delivery vehicles such as box trucks, vans, or personal vehicles to complete daily routes efficiently. Load and unload parcels, ensuring correct handling and secure placement during transit. Deliver mail and packages directly to customers' residences or businesses, following designated routes with precision. Adhere strictly to traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and safe driving practices at all times. Use mobile devices or route management tools to navigate routes, track deliveries, and communicate with dispatch as needed. Provide excellent customer service by addressing recipient inquiries professionally and courteously during deliveries. Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting, moving parcels, and operating material handling equipment like pallet jacks when necessary. Requirements Prior experience in delivery driving, warehouse operations, or courier services is highly preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating commercial trucks or box trucks is a plus. Ability to handle manual transmission vehicles and perform manual handling tasks safely. Familiarity with warehouse operations, material handling equipment (such as pallet jacks), and heavy lifting techniques. Strong understanding of traffic regulations, DOT compliance, and safe lifting practices in the workplace. Experience with mobile devices for route navigation and delivery tracking is advantageous.
