Job Description

Job Summary The attendant is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the propane filling station and assisting customers with their propane needs. This position performs propane cylinder and vehicle fills, handles customer transactions, maintains a clean and organized station, and follows all company procedures and applicable safety requirements. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors, and able to provide friendly and professional customer service. The Propane Station Attendant is expected to inspect cylinders prior to filling, properly operate propane dispensing equipment, accurately document or process sales, and immediately report any equipment or safety concerns. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe environment for customers, coworkers, and the public. Responsibilities Safely operate propane dispensing equipment to fill customer propane cylinders, tanks, and approved vehicles. Inspect propane cylinders and containers prior to filling to ensure they are safe, compliant, and suitable for service. Follow all company safety procedures and applicable regulations when handling and dispensing propane. Assist customers in a friendly, professional, and timely manner. Load and unload propane cylinders as needed and assist customers with safely securing cylinders for transportation. Process customer purchases, payments, receipts, and other transactions accurately. Maintain accurate records of propane sales, fills, and other required station documentation. Monitor propane inventory and notify management when product levels are low or deliveries may be needed. Perform routine visual inspections of pumps, hoses, valves, connections, emergency equipment, and the surrounding dispensing area. Immediately report propane leaks, damaged equipment, unsafe cylinders, or other safety concerns to management. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe propane filling station and surrounding work area. Ensure required safety signage, fire extinguishers, protective equipment, and emergency shutoffs remain accessible. Follow proper procedures for opening and closing the propane station. Maintain awareness of customers, vehicles, ignition sources, and other potential hazards within the dispensing area. Answer basic customer questions regarding propane fills, cylinder requirements, pricing, and company services. Follow company policies regarding cash handling, customer accounts, and point-of-sale procedures. Wear required personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance while on duty. Assist with general facility, yard, or customer-service duties during periods of low station activity. Complete required propane handling and safety training and maintain any certifications required for the position. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Previous customer service, retail, propane, fuel, or similar experience preferred, but not required. Ability and willingness to complete required propane dispensing and safety training. Strong commitment to workplace and customer safety. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established safety procedures. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with limited supervision. Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions. Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash, payments, and customer transactions. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers and coworkers. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks associated with filling and handling propane cylinders. Ability to regularly lift and handle propane cylinders and other materials associated with the position. Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all company safety policies. Must be able to maintain any training, certifications, or qualifications required by the company or applicable regulations. Pay:
$14.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
