Monday to Friday, split shift: 6:30am to 9:30am and 2:00pm to 5:00pm Occasional weekends or evenings may be required for special events or outings.
Position Summary:
The Transportation Driver is responsible for safely operating a 15-passenger van to transport program participants to and from scheduled activities, community outings, and other approved destinations. This role plays a vital part in ensuring participants arrive on time, safely, and with respect and dignity.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a 15-passenger van in compliance with all California DMV, DDS, and Title 17 regulations. Transport individuals to and from Dreamers and Believers program sites, job sites, community integration events, medical appointments, and recreational activities. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required checklists. Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and client attendance sheets. Ensure the safety, comfort, and respectful treatment of all passengers at all times. Assist individuals with entering and exiting the vehicle safely, including those with mobility challenges. Report any vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or incidents to management immediately. Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and adhere to all sanitation and safety protocols. Communicate effectively with program staff and management regarding delays, route changes, or participant concerns. Follow all emergency procedures and protocols in the event of accidents or breakdowns.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 25 years of age (insurance requirement). High School Diploma or GED preferred. Valid California Commercial Driver's License, Class A or Class B, with Passenger Endorsement (required). Clean DMV driving record for the past 5 years (must provide DMV printout). Must pass LiveScan background check, drug screening, and health/TB clearance. CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Minimum 2 years of experience driving large passenger vans or transporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and assist individuals as needed. Strong communication skills, punctuality, patience, and a professional demeanor. Familiarity with Title 17 and Regional Center services is a plus. Why Join Dreamers and Believers Inc.?
