We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.
Compensation:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly rate for this position is $17.95 to 19.00 per hour. The Donations Aide receives, sorts, stores, and distributes non-monetary donations on a daily basis.
Location :
This position is located at our main campus on O Street in NW Washington, DC.
Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday, 6:30 am - 2:30 pm (40 hours per week)
Required:
HS Diploma or GED; 1-3 yrs. experience working with the homeless or mentally ill
Preferred License/Certification :
Driver's license,
CPR/First Aid Expected Contributions:
Non-Monetary Donations Coordination Receive donations and provide donation receipts Answer donor questions and explain SOME Programs Sort clothing items and label by size; maintain inventory and display clothing in Clothing Room for clients Sort food items and toiletries and store in warehouse Stock food pantry and label items for expiration Enforce food and clothing distribution rules for clients Maintain cleanliness of donations room, warehouse and storage areas Oversee and supervise volunteer groups Drive truck to pick up donations, as needed

Mission-focused Organizational skills with an attention to detail Action-oriented Time management skills with the ability to prioritize Conflict resolution skills Demonstrates professionalism while working with customers and donors Able to communicate with diverse audiences

This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to move donations. May be required to sit, stand, bend, lift and carry items throughout the day.
