Job Description

NEMT Staffing | Tampa Bay Area Full-Time | $17.00-$19.00 per hour | Weekly Pay NEMT Staffing is seeking qualified drivers for a full-time opportunity with one of our non-emergency medical transportation clients serving the Tampa Bay area . We're looking for dependable professionals who are comfortable working directly with passengers who require stretcher or wheelchair transportation. This position combines professional driving with passenger assistance, transportation equipment operation, communication, and safety responsibilities. Prior NEMT experience is preferred, but candidates with strong professional driving backgrounds in other industries are encouraged to apply. Position Overview Drivers in this role transport passengers to and from medical appointments, healthcare facilities, rehabilitation centers, dialysis appointments, residences, and other approved locations throughout the service area. Stretcher transportation will make up a significant portion of the position. Drivers must therefore be comfortable assisting passengers, maneuvering transportation equipment, and working as part of a team when additional assistance is needed. This is non-emergency transportation and does not involve providing emergency medical care. Schedule & Availability This is a full-time position averaging approximately 30-40 hours per week .
Candidates should have:
Availability Monday through Saturday Flexibility for scheduled shifts occurring between approximately 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to accommodate varying start and finish times Employees are not expected to work the entire 6:00 AM-9:00 PM window. Individual shift times vary based on scheduled transportation needs. Schedules are typically communicated in advance. What You'll Be Responsible For Successful candidates will be expected to: Safely operate company-provided transportation vehicles Transport stretcher and wheelchair passengers throughout the Tampa Bay area Assist passengers during loading and unloading Safely maneuver occupied stretchers and wheelchairs Properly secure passengers and transportation equipment Operate lifts, ramps, stretchers, and securement systems Communicate effectively with transportation dispatch Complete trip documentation accurately Conduct required vehicle safety checks Maintain a clean and professional vehicle environment Interact professionally with passengers, family members, caregivers, and healthcare personnel Follow applicable safety, privacy, and transportation procedures Minimum Requirements Applicants must: Be 25 years of age or older due to commercial vehicle insurance eligibility requirements Have a valid driver's license Have at least 1 year of professional driving experience Have a driving record that meets applicable commercial insurance requirements Be able to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate Be able to successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening and credentialing Have reliable transportation to and from the assigned Tampa Bay reporting location Be comfortable working directly with passengers who have varying mobility needs Be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation Communicate effectively in English for safety, passenger communication, and documentation purposes Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus. Experience We're Interested In Previous experience in any of the following may be especially relevant: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Stretcher or wheelchair transportation EMS or ambulance operations Patient transportation Healthcare transportation Paratransit Shuttle or passenger transportation Professional delivery or courier driving Other commercial or professional driving positions Applicants transitioning from professional driving environments outside of healthcare may be considered based on their overall experience, driving history, reliability, and ability to perform the passenger-assistance aspects of the position. Physical Requirements This position involves regular physical activity in addition to driving.
Essential functions may include:
Pushing and pulling occupied stretchers and wheelchairs Maneuvering passengers and transportation equipment through facilities and residences Assisting with passenger movement and transfers Operating ramps, lifts, stretchers, and securement equipment Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and entering/exiting vehicles Assisting with passenger and equipment loads that may exceed 200 pounds using appropriate equipment, procedures, and team assistance Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Training & Credentialing Depending on previous experience and current credentials, selected candidates may be required to complete transportation and safety training before performing certain duties independently. Relevant credentials may include CPR/First Aid/AED, PASS training, wheelchair securement training, defensive driving, HIPAA, Fraud/Waste/Abuse training, DOT medical certification, and applicable local transportation credentials.
