Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Driver for Special Needs to join our team Monday-Thursdays! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting individuals with special needs, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout each journey. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create a positive, supportive environment for our passengers. Candidates with a passion for driving and a caring attitude will thrive here! Duties Safely operate specialized vehicles designed for transporting individuals with special needs, including vans. Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed to ensure safety and comfort Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip, checking mechanical systems, safety equipment, and accessibility features Follow designated routes accurately while maintaining punctuality and adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations Communicate effectively with passengers, team members, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and relay important information Qualifications Valid driver's license. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with passengers requiring special assistance and team members Physical ability to assist moving passengers or mobility aids; comfortable working in various weather conditions Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in paratransit services is preferred Must be willing and able to travel throughout Westchester County and New York City as required for the position.
