Responsibilities Drive trucks for various departments including the Mail Room, Food Service, Physical Plant, Housing and Food Services Maintenance Department. Deliver and pick up mail, materials, equipment, food, supplies, tools, etc. Maintain records of purchase, pick-ups, deliveries, etc. Load and unload trucks. Keep truck clean, report malfunctions and have it serviced when needed. Maintain work areas and vehicle in safe, sanitary and efficient operating conditions. Remove trash to proper areas. Observe safety regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation. May assist in departmental operations when not driving truck, i.e., sort mail, clean, sweep,and act as helper. Physical Requirements Standing 85% - 100% of the shift Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend to below the knee Frequent stooping and/or crouching Frequent walking back and forth between loading dock, stock room, plant, warehouses etc. carrying items weighing up to 100 lbs Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead) Able to operate vehicles with manual transmission; able to get into and out of truck cab unassisted Frequently lift, load and unload, items that weigh up to 100 lbs; able to lift from overhead items weighing up to 100 pounds Able to push and pull carts/pallets carrying up to 500 lbs.
