Regular Part Time About this opportunity: Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards; assists in performing work in the thrift/family store and warehouse.
When needed:
Sorting responsibilities; receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area. Cleans and maintains the stores and storage facilities. Key Responsibilities Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions. Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted. Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety. Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army. Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse. Loads truck of items to be taken to the dump. Delivers appliances and furniture purchased by customers. Performs routine maintenance of the truck; checks fluid levels on a regular basis; coordinates and may participate in repair work as needed. Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition. Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks. Empties trash cans; collects trash from grounds What we are looking for in you:
Education and Experience:
No formal education required, and Six (6) months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture, or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
