Job Description
Professional Organizer & Estate Cleanout Specialist What Goez Where Organizing and Design is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and hardworking Professional Organizer to join our growing team. This position will include traditional home-organizing projects as well as estate cleanouts, downsizing projects, moving preparation, and whole-home decluttering. Our organizers work directly inside clients' homes, helping them sort belongings, make decisions, create functional systems, and prepare items for donation, recycling, disposal, relocation, or possible sale. Estate-cleanout projects may take place in older, heavily cluttered, dusty, or less-than-pristine homes. Candidates must be comfortable working respectfully and professionally in a variety of household conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, is naturally organized, and finds satisfaction in transforming overwhelming spaces. Responsibilities Sort, categorize, and organize household belongings Assist with estate cleanouts, downsizing, moving preparation, packing, and unpacking Help identify items designated for keeping, donation, recycling, disposal, or possible sale Pack boxes, label contents, move bins, and prepare donations Research potential donation, recycling, disposal, or resale resources when requested Handle clients' belongings carefully and maintain confidentiality Work compassionately with clients who may be grieving, overwhelmed, embarrassed, anxious, or emotionally attached to their belongings Work cooperatively with other organizers and follow the direction of the project lead Take clear before-and-after photographs when authorized Communicate promptly and professionally with the business owner and team Maintain a positive, nonjudgmental attitude in every home Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Applicants must be comfortable: Working in basements, garages, attics, storage areas, and heavily cluttered homes Working in spaces that may be dusty, dirty, musty, or have not been cleaned recently Standing, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and working on their feet for several hours Regularly lifting and carrying boxes, bins, bags, and household items Wearing appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves or a mask, when needed Working as part of a team on physically demanding projects Team members will not be expected to continue working in an area containing significant mold, active infestations, animal waste, extensive rodent contamination, or another serious health or safety concern without stopping and notifying the project lead for evaluation. Qualifications Naturally organized, resourceful, dependable, and detail-oriented Compassionate and nonjudgmental when working with clients Comfortable making decisions and working efficiently in overwhelming spaces Able to follow instructions while also taking initiative Honest and trustworthy around valuable, sentimental, and personal belongings Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Willing and able to travel to client homes throughout Central and Northern New Jersey Available primarily on weekdays during daytime hours; many projects take place between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Professional organizing, estate cleanout, moving, packing, senior downsizing, home staging, recycling, donation coordination, or related experience is preferred Knowledge of antiques, vintage items, resale resources, recycling, waste management, furniture assembly, or basic home-improvement tools is a plus. Position Details Part-time position Approximately 12-20 hours per week, depending on client demand and availability Project-based scheduling; hours are not guaranteed Travel throughout Central and Northern New Jersey is required
