The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Part-time Virtual Reality Certified Flight Instructor .
Position Summary:
The Virtual Reality (VR) Certified Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality flight training using the University's virtual reality simulation systems. This role provides hands-on instruction, guidance, and feedback to students to enhance aviation knowledge, decision-making skills, and technical proficiency in a simulated environment. The VR CFI also supports the daily operations of the VR lab, including equipment readiness, basic troubleshooting, and maintaining a safe, professional, and effective training environment. This position works under the direction of the Simulator Manager and the Director of Aviation Operations to ensure consistent training delivery and operational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide instruction on the use of VR headsets, controls, and simulation interfaces Guide students in navigating virtual environments and interacting with simulated aircraft systems Ensure proper fit and adjustment of VR equipment to maximize comfort and training effectiveness Deliver real-time feedback to enhance pilot performance, situational awareness, and decision-making skills Provide individualized instruction tailored to varying student learning styles Maintain accurate and timely records of student training activities Open and close the VR lab daily, ensuring all systems are operational and ready for use Assist with the setup, daily readiness, and routine maintenance of VR systems and equipment Monitor and account for all VR equipment and report discrepancies Identify, document, and escalate technical, safety, or operational issues to the Simulator Manager Execute assigned schedules and assist with managing student flow within the VR lab Adhere to all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide feedback for process improvement Promote a safe, professional, and engaging training environment that supports student success Collaborate with the Simulator Manager and instructional staff to ensure consistency in training delivery Perform other duties as assigned in support of the

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively instruct and mentor students Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on operational needs Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting VR hardware and software systems Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical issues efficiently Understanding of basic instructional techniques and learning methodologies Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a student-focused training environment Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds
Qualifications:
