As a vital part of our transportation network, you'll operate a variety of vehicles—including motor coaches, school buses, and paratransit shuttles—delivering passengers safely and reliably across city streets and beyond. Your expertise in vehicle maintenance, traffic laws, and customer service will ensure every journey is smooth, secure, and enjoyable. Responsibilities Safely operate diverse vehicles such as motor coaches, school buses, shuttle vans, and limousine-style vehicles on city streets and designated routes. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations. Assist passengers with boarding, including those with special needs or requiring additional support, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey. Navigate efficiently using city street maps and GPS systems while adhering to traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and state transportation rules. Communicate clearly with dispatchers and fellow drivers via two-way radios to coordinate routes, report issues, or request assistance as needed. Maintain accurate logs of trips, vehicle maintenance records, and incident reports in accordance with transportation safety regulations. Provide exceptional customer service by greeting passengers warmly, answering questions professionally, and ensuring a positive travel experience. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements such as air brake certification. Proven experience in bus driving, shuttle services, or delivery driving roles; familiarity with paratransit or limousine operations is a plus. Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify maintenance needs promptly. Deep understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and safety regulations related to commercial transportation. Ability to navigate city streets confidently while managing adverse weather conditions or challenging traffic scenarios. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members using two-way radios or other communication devices. Knowledge of passenger safety protocols and procedures for assisting passengers with special needs or mobility challenges. Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous for serving diverse communities.
