Job Description
Job Overview •HIRING•Experienced CDL driver with chip trailer experience (preferred but not required). Pay based on experience and is discussed during onboarding. The schedule is at the discretion of the driver but the mill operates Mon-Sun 12am-12am (24/7) and the expectation is 20 loads per week. Collins/Reidsville location preferred but not required BUT reliable transportation is a MUST to get back and forth to the truck. Clean MVR and drug screen is required. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with state and local laws. Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and provide wheelchair assistance to ensure accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges. Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to maintain a safe driving environment. Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, emergency situations, and unexpected delays during routes. Maintain passenger safety by enforcing behavior management policies and ensuring compliance with school or organizational policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before each trip. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, addressing questions or concerns, and ensuring a positive experience. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary. Assist with loading heavy luggage or equipment while practicing proper lifting techniques to prevent injury. Maintain accurate records of routes, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance logs. Experience Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport (e.g., P endorsement for passenger vehicles). Proven experience driving buses or similar large vehicles in a professional setting. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable to commercial driving. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; familiarity with childcare or senior care environments is a plus. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse communities. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and emergency situations with calmness and professionalism. Prior experience in behavior management or student discipline is beneficial when working with young passengers. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks and assist passengers as needed while maintaining safety standards.
