The Wheelchair Transportation Driver is responsible for transporting passengers with mobility challenges to medical appointments, rehabilitation services, senior living communities, dialysis treatments, personal errands, and other destinations. Drivers provide door-to-door assistance, safely operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and ensure passengers are treated with dignity and respect. Responsibilities Safely operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and disembarking, ensuring proper use of safety restraints and mobility aids. Secure wheelchairs and mobility devices according to safety standards. Maintain accurate logs of trips and required documentation Follow dispatch schedules and route assignments. Customer Service Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, their families, and care providers, demonstrating patience and understanding at all times. Communicate professionally and courteously. Assist passengers with bags, walkers, and personal belongings when appropritate. Ensure riders feel safe, respected, and comfrotable through their trip. Safety & Compliance Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and appearance. Report incidents, accidents, vehicle concerns, or client issues promprtly. Adhere to company safety policies and transporation regulations. Follow all HIPAA and confidentiality requirements when applicable. Qualifications Required Valid Tennessee Driver's License Tennessee For-Hire (F) Endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days Minimum age of 21 years Clean driving record Ability to pass criminal background check Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening Ability to safely lift, push, and maneuber occupied wheelchairs. Familiarity with child care policies, student discipline protocols (if applicable), and behavior management strategies enhances passenger interactions. Prior experience operating school buses or transit vehicles demonstrates your capability to handle specialized transportation needs confidently.
