Job Description

As a License & Permit Specialist, you will play a vital role in reviewing, processing, and issuing driver licenses and permits while providing essential customer support. This is a high-impact position where your attention to detail and commitment to customer service will make a meaningful difference every day. Major Duties Interact professionally with the public in person, answering questions about driver license and ID card applications, traffic and CDL laws, driver education, insurance requirements, voter registration, organ donation, and related topics. Screen applicants and administer and grade written, oral, and visual examinations. Collect fees, issue receipts, and prepare license and permit application forms. Review and approve applications, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes. Enter application information, fees, and technical data into designated computer systems. Operate digital imaging equipment to capture portraits, thumbprints, and signatures. Advise applicants about suspensions, cancellations, or revocations of driving privileges and explain the steps required to regain eligibility. Inspect vehicles for safety before road tests, verify registration and insurance, and explain testing procedures. Conduct road tests and evaluate applicants' physical and cognitive driving abilities. Independently score road tests, communicate results, and recommend corrective action or revocation when necessary.
Note:
A valid Texas driver's license or approved out-of-state waiver is required because this role administers road tests. What We're Looking For Minimum of two years of onsite experience in a high-volume, public-facing customer service role. Friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to confidently de-escalate situations involving upset customers. Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record. Comfortable working on your feet, getting in and out of vehicles, and performing tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions. Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities. Preferred Associate degree or equivalent; relevant education and experience may substitute for one another.
Exciting Opportunity Details Hourly rate:
$21.50 per hour.
Length of engagement:
Through Aug 31, 2027 with possibility for extension.
Days/hours:
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
