Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated After School Provider to offer essential support to children with disabilities and their families. In this role, you will be responsible for providing temporary relief and assistance to caregivers, ensuring the safety, well-being, and social development of children with disabilities in the comfort of their own homes. Your role will play a crucial part in improving the quality of life for both the children and their families.
IN NEED OF AFTER SCHOOL & WEEKEND PROVIDERS - SHIFTS VARY, UP TO 30 HOURS/WK AVAILABLE
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Care and Companionship:
Provide one-on-one care, companionship, and emotional support to children with disabilities while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. 2.
Engagement and Play:
Develop age-appropriate and disability-specific activities and play routines to engage and stimulate the child's cognitive, physical, and emotional development. 3.
Safety and Monitoring:
Ensure the safety of the child at all times, proactively identifying potential risks, and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents or injuries. 4.
Communication:
Maintain open and effective communication with the child's primary caregivers, therapists, and healthcare providers to ensure consistency in care and treatment plans. 5.
Care Scheduling:
Work with families to schedule respite care sessions at times that are convenient for them while meeting the child's needs. 6.
Community Integration:
Encourage and facilitate the child's participation in community activities, as appropriate, to promote socialization and inclusion.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children with disabilities (3 years preferred). Knowledge of disability-related care techniques and strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping children with disabilities. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of each child.
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time position 10-30 hours/wk Work takes place in the child's home or in the community The role may periodically involve physical activities
