Marine Travel Lift Operator Merritt's Boat & Engine Works -

Pompano Beach, FL SUMMARY:

Responsible for operating marine lifts and other types of heavy equipment to move vessels for repair and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manipulate travel lift to haul boats using 70 ton to 100-ton machines. Transport, launch, and secure boats measuring 50 to 90 feet. Position keel blocks, boat stands, and support blocks beneath vessels. Complete bottom work tasks, such as pressure washing and cleaning. Inspect, maintain, and repair machinery to ensure operation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to create standard correspondence. Ability to effectively and concisely present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees. Ability to work from oral and written instructions. Proficient verbal communication skills, in English, are required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must possess a HS diploma or GED equivalent, have a valid DL. Forklift experience (certification is a plus). Light mechanical vessel knowledge such as prop and running gear removals and assistance, engine and generator removals and assistance as needed. All candidates must have an excellent reliability record, be self-motivated to perform quality work, have success working in a team environment and excellent customer service skills.
