Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic dredging team as a 3rd Unlimited Assistant Engineer (or higher) and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our vessels. This energetic position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in water transportation, vessel upkeep, and safety procedures while working in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment. Our Unlimited Assistant Engineers are responsible for performing general vessel engineer duties under the supervision of the Chief Engineer.

Location:
East & Gulf Coasts (U.S.) Responsibilities Assist with the operation and maintenance of vessel propulsion and auxiliary machinery in compliance with US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations and company policies. Conduct routine inspections of water transportation equipment, engines, and mechanical systems to identify issues early and perform necessary repairs or report for further action. Support the crew in firefighting drills, first aid procedures, CPR, and emergency response activities to uphold maritime safety standards. Handle ropes, mooring lines, and other sea-handling equipment during docking, undocking, or maneuvering operations at sea or port. Participate in vessel maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubrication, troubleshooting mechanical problems, and ensuring all systems operate efficiently. Communicate effectively with maritime crew members to coordinate operations, safety protocols, and routine tasks onboard. Assist with boat handling activities as needed to support water transportation operations safely and efficiently. Qualifications Hold valid credentials required of an Unlimited Assistant Engineer. Prior experience in water transportation industry roles or commercial ship mechanical work is highly desirable. Knowledge of USCG regulations related to vessel operation and safety procedures. Proficiency in crane operation, rope handling at sea, and vessel maintenance techniques. Certifications or training in first aid, CPR, firefighting, maritime safety procedures, and water transportation equipment maintenance are preferred. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy equipment and working at heights or confined spaces. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with crew members across different departments. Demonstrated commitment to safety standards and maritime crew communication protocols. Pay:
$135,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year Application Question(s): Ability work a rotation scheduled of 21/21 & 12-hour days.
