Apply Marine Superintendent (LPG) Location Europe Job Type Permanent Join a leading international shipmanagement team as a Marine Superintendent, where your LPG experience will support the safe, compliant and commercially effective operation of a specialised fleet. Responsibilities As Marine Superintendent, you will support the safe and efficient operation of the fleet, ensuring that the requirements of the Safety Management System (SMS), international regulations and industry standards are consistently implemented both ashore and onboard.
Your responsibilities will include:
Ensuring all activities comply with company procedures, international regulations and industry standards in line with the SMS. Providing operational and HSEQ guidance to vessels and shore-based teams, supporting safe and efficient marine operations. Monitoring HSEQ performance, setting objectives and supporting continuous improvement across the fleet. Coordinating inspections, preparing vessels for inspections and terminal acceptance, and following up on findings and deficiencies. Supporting third-party inspections and ensuring corrective actions are effectively closed out. Managing audits and certifications, conducting internal navigational audits and identifying opportunities for fleet-level improvements. Supporting risk management, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, energy efficiency and security matters. Acting as an Emergency Duty Manager and participating in the fleet's Emergency Response Team. Providing guidance to Masters and onboard management to ensure safe operations and compliance with company procedures. Requirements Master's degree in Nautical Sciences and STCW Management Level certification. Significant seagoing experience on LPG carriers, with a strong understanding of LPG cargo operations. Minimum 3 years' experience in a management position onboard, ideally as Chief Officer or Master. Excellent knowledge of navigation, cargo operations and marine safety. Good knowledge of IMO regulations and relevant industry standards, including OCIMF and CDI. Sound knowledge of mooring operations, weather forecasting and interpretation, and vessel equipment and specifications. Strong understanding of SMS requirements and the ability to identify, challenge and rectify non-compliance. Ability to assess and respond effectively to observations and findings raised by internal and external parties. Confident providing advice and guidance to Masters, onboard management and shore-based teams. Willingness and flexibility to travel as required. Fluent written and spoken English.
