Job Description The Boatyard Associate is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the boatyard, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of vessels, equipment, and facilities. This role includes assisting with boat hauling and launching, maintenance tasks, and providing excellent customer service to boat owners and marina guests. The Boatyard Associate plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized boatyard environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vessel Handling Assist in the hauling, launching, blocking, and securing of boats using yard equipment such as trucks, tractors, and trailers. Safely maneuver boats in and out of the water or designated storage areas. Secure vessels properly to prevent damage during yard operations. 2. Maintenance and Yard Operations Perform general maintenance and cleaning of the boatyard, equipment, and facilities. Assist with minor repairs and routine upkeep of yard machinery. Maintain a clean and organized workspace by removing debris, organizing tools, and ensuring equipment is properly stored. 3. Customer Service Greet and assist customers with inquiries related to yard services and operations. Provide clear communication and updates regarding the status of their vessels. Foster a positive and professional relationship with boat owners and marina guests. 4. Safety and Compliance Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for staff and customers. Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment and report any issues or malfunctions. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a boatyard, marina, or similar environment preferred. Ability to operate heavy machinery and trailer boats is ideal Knowledge of vessel handling, boating operations, and marine equipment is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety guidelines. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to operate equipment such as travel lifts, forklifts, or trailers (certification preferred). Physical ability to lift and handle heavy materials and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Comfort working on and around water, boats, and heavy machinery. Stamina to stand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
Work Schedule:
Hours will include weekends while it's still warm. Part-time and full-time positions available.
