TYPICAL FUNCTIONS

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. Steer operate inland push boat and move barges, boats and drydock, using radios, depth finders, radars, lights, buoys or lighthouses. Compute positions, set courses, and determine speeds, compasses, and knowledge of local weather/river conditions. Inspect vessels to ensure efficient and safe operation of vessels and equipment and conformance to regulations. Measure depths of water, using depth-measuring equipment. Direct or coordinate crew members or workers performing activities such as loading or unloading cargo, steering vessels, operating engines, or operating, maintaining, or repairing ship equipment. Moving barges. Calculate sightings of land, using electronic sounding devices and following contour lines on charts. Signal passing vessels, using whistles, flashing lights, flags or radios. Maintain boats or equipment on board, such as engines, winches, navigational systems, fire extinguishers, or life preservers. Deckhands will assist to rig tow lines, open or close gates or ramps, or pull guard chains across entries.

• Operate and maintain machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in a timely manner.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals.

Requirements:

• Mechanical knowledge and aptitude for operating machinery a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot operational issues
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment
• Must be able to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.
