In this vital role, you will be responsible for assisting with vessel maneuvering, ensuring safe and efficient water transportation, and supporting the overall management of tugboat operations. Your expertise will help facilitate the safe movement of ships, cargo, and watercraft within busy port environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced maritime setting where safety, precision, and teamwork are paramount. Responsibilities Assist in the navigation and maneuvering of tugboats using marine navigation systems and vessel management techniques Support crew management activities, including supervising deck crew during vessel operations and ensuring adherence to maritime safety procedures Perform rigging tasks for securing ships or cargo, utilizing manual handling skills and heavy lifting techniques Conduct routine maintenance on water transportation equipment to ensure operational readiness and compliance with USCG regulations Communicate effectively with maritime crews, port authorities, and other stakeholders to coordinate vessel movements and safety protocols Manage vessel handling procedures during docking, undocking, and transit operations while ensuring compliance with all safety standards Participate in maritime safety drills, emergency response procedures, and crew training sessions to promote a safety-first culture Qualifications Must have all valid Credentials such as Mate of Towing Vessels, TWIC Card and Medical Certificate Proven expertise in rigging, boat handling, marine navigation systems, and vessel management Strong manual handling skills coupled with mechanical knowledge of water transportation equipment maintenance Familiarity with US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations governing vessel operations and maritime safety procedures Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively as a ship supervisor or in a similar leadership role within the maritime industry Knowledge of maritime piloting techniques and crew communication best practices in complex port environments Experience with heavy lifting operations, vessel maintenance routines, and water transportation industry standards Excellent problem-solving skills combined with mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly Ability to work in physically demanding conditions while maintaining a focus on safety and operational efficiency
