Days The Deckhand plays a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of tow and fleet activities, and other maritime duties while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely and efficiently build and break tows, maintain fleet integrity, and ensure barges are properly secured Follow all company policies, safety standards, environmental requirements, and U.S. Coast Guard regulations Respond to emergencies and participate in required safety drills, including man overboard and fire drills Perform vessel maintenance, including cleaning, scraping, painting, and changing fuel, oil, and filters Handle lines and rigging during tow building, docking, and barge movement activities Use proper knots, tying procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for barge handling Communicate effectively with vessel personnel regarding barge movements, distances, and operational needs Complete all required training and assist with onboarding and training new team members Maintain proper placement and stowage of equipment and perform general dock and terminal housekeeping duties Work safely in all weather conditions, wear required PPE, and maintain reliable attendance, including rotational schedules and overtime as needed Qualifications
