Position Overview:
SGL is seeking a reliable and punctual Driver to join our team. Successful candidate must have 2+ years trucking experience, preferably at airport and logistics and/or freight forwarding company. Ensure proper and timely delivery and movement of freight. Knowledge and adherence to federal motor carrier safety regulations / DOT guidelines. Deep understanding of local, major and minor roadways. Must be punctual, flexible with "can do attitude". This position requires a valid DOT Medical Card (Medical Examiner's Certificate) at the time of hire, as mandated by federal and site-specific access regulations. Applicant must obtain DOT independently and the cost is the responsibility of the applicant .
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operate semi-trucks, vans, and other delivery vehicles in compliance with all applicable state and federal transportation laws and DOT safety regulations. Transport goods safely and efficiently along assigned routes while adhering to traffic laws, delivery schedules, and safety guidelines. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking oil, water, fuel, and air levels; promptly report any mechanical issues to the supervisor. Safely load and unload products using appropriate equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or two-wheelers; ensure all cargo is properly secured to prevent damage during transit. Maneuver vehicles into loading and unloading areas with precision, using signals from the loading crew as needed. Deliver shipments to designated drop-off points, verify delivery contents with customers, and obtain required signatures or proof of delivery (POD). Handle collections or payments from customers, when applicable, in a secure and professional manner. Return empty pallets, skids, and delivery equipment to designated areas after unloading. Maintain accurate and complete delivery documentation, including invoices, shipping bills, and bills of lading, and submit paperwork to the shipping office upon route completion. Assist in organizing trailers in the shipping yard to optimize loading efficiency. Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle and refuel as necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Valid driver's license, Class A Valid DOT Medical Card (also known as a Medical Examiner's Certificate) Clean driving record and insurable Forklift certification is a plus, but not mandatory 2+ years trucking experience, preferably at Airport and Logistics/Freight Forwarding company Ability to maintain a clean driving record with a high level of safety awareness on the roadways. Ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient routing Able to work OT as required Basic proficiency in English is required to communicate with internal/external employees and customers. Ability to read, write, comprehend for work related communication. Must be able to understand basic instructions and guidelines and participate in job-required training and assessments.
Physical Requirement:
Able to drive a van and/or truck for eight (8) - twelve (12) plus hours daily Able to lift up to 70lbs repetitively during each shift Able to push, pull up to 2500lbs using manual pallet jacks Able to stoop, stretch, twist, bend, etc Ability to be proactive when dealing with customer complaints or requests Comfortable driving in extreme weather conditions with frequent stops Consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts Work authorization/security clearance requirements: Must be eligible to work in the United States Must pass TSA eligibility screening Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
