PART-TIME VAN DRIVER ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

WORK HOURS

Part-time split-shift position Monday through Friday, between the hours 5:30 am - 8:30 am and 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm depending on route. Anywhere between 15-30 hours per week.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Van Driver is responsible for the transportation and supervision of assigned clients to and/or from the facility.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Transport individuals who are served by The Arc of Volusia to and/or from the agency. Make recommendations for vehicle maintenance to the Facility Manager such as brakes, tires and inspections being due. Make sure all individuals/passengers are secured in a seat belt. Check the fire extinguisher and first aid kit regularly. Maintain daily mileage and attendance log. Reports all accidents and vehicle damage immediately to the VP of Operations. Van drivers are to stay with the van until ALL individuals/passengers have exited the vehicle. Understand how to redirect client behaviors on the van. Thoroughly read and comprehend The Arc of Volusia's Vehicle Use Policy. Complete other duties as necessary.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

Must have a valid Driver's License, have a clean driving record and be insurable. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a level 2 background and drug screening as required by regulation.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to position and move individuals. Must be able to sit in a vehicle for about 2-3 hours at a time.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other agencies and individuals to help develop and follow agency procedures and collaborative services. Ability to work with persons with disabilities and diverse people of all ages, without regard to sex, race, religion or socioeconomic level. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
