Job Description

Delivery Driver Pay:
60,000-75,000 About The Role The Delivery Driver safely and efficiently transports tools, materials, equipment, and machinery between RJ Lawn & Landscape's yard, job sites, and vendor locations using a hooklift truck, flatbed, and trailer as needed. This role loads, secures, and delivers all types of equipment, operating independently or alongside a team to keep crews properly equipped and job sites running on schedule. What You'll Do Operate a hook lift truck with air brakes, flatbed, and trailer as needed to transport tools, materials, and machinery between the yard, job sites, and vendor locations. Safely load, secure, and unload all types of equipment and materials, using proper securement methods (straps, chains, binders) and loading equipment such as a forklift or skid steer as needed; review load and delivery orders for accuracy before departure. Review daily schedule prior to departure, including delivery locations, routes, and required materials and equipment. Able to operate iPhone and app related devices properly; report any issues immediately. Accurately complete delivery tickets in app on time, with materials, and load records; verify quality and accuracy before leaving each site. Survey each site on arrival; report scope discrepancies, time concerns, or existing damage with photo documentation when applicable. Interact professionally with clients and crews at each site, and communicate proactively with dispatch regarding delivery timing, schedule changes, or site access needs. Work independently to manage delivery routes and loads, or coordinate with a partner for multi-stop or heavy-load runs. Report accidents, injuries, property damage, absenteeism, and tardiness immediately. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Possess and maintain a valid Iowa Class A CDL with air brakes (no air brake restriction). Pass a Background Check and DOT drug/alcohol screening, and meet DOT medical certification requirements. Minimum of 1 year if verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 3 years (hooklift, flatbed, straight truck, or trailer-towing). Maintain a valid Iowa driver's license and a clean driving record; adhere to all traffic laws and company driving policies. Physically perform the work, including lifting up to 100 lbs, securing loads, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders/stairs, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Operate machinery and specialized loading equipment (e.g., forklift, skid steer, wheel loader) in a safe and efficient manner. Read and understand technical information, load manifests, and delivery instructions competently. Work overtime and flexible hours as needed, including early morning starts. Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail, in identifying and resolving delivery, load, and equipment issues. Maintain adaptability in a dynamic work environment, working independently or as part of a team, with strong time management and organization. Communicate clearly and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations, providing courteous and professional service to clients and colleagues. Measurements of Accountability On-time delivery rate. Load and cargo safety (properly secured loads, no in-transit damage) Vehicle inspection compliance and incident-free driving record.
